Dawie, 58, was Manager: AngloGold Ashanti Metallurgical Technical Services with AngloGold where he was responsible for all metallurgical designs, technology development, technical audits and project management. During his stay of 24 years within the Anglo American Group he was also Metallurgical Manager responsible for strategic planning, environmental management, Metallurgical accounting systems technical auditing and Uranium strategy and marketing. He spent half this time as manager in the production environment and covered diamonds with De Beers, gold, uranium, sulphuric acid and slimes deposition sections. Time was also spent as Manager of the Afrikaner Lease Mine. He was also involved in projects with Anglo American Research Laboratories, MINTEK, and the Coal Research Institute. He formed Afritech Technical and Management Services in 2000 following his resignation from the then AngloGold and is currently the Managing Director His International consultancy includes Anaconda Nickel in Australia, technical design updates for AngloGold Ashanti in Mali, Tanzania, Namibia and South Africa, Cyanide audits and certifications audits in Australia, Africa and South Africa (Accredited technical cyanide auditor for the International Cyanide Management Institute, ICMI), Bankable feasibility designs in Uzbekistan, gold plant designs Uganda, various due diligence studies and CPR’s. Other technical projects include diamond and chemical plant designs and development, patenting, consultancy and business establishment projects. |
